National Road Safety Week is an annual initiative that aims to raise awareness about the importance of driver safety on our roads. During the National Road Safety Week, ACFS Port Logistics encourage all employees to participate in various safety activities, such as safety drills, training sessions, and safety audits.
ACFS are pleased that we are leading the charge in this area with ongoing investments made to their truck inventory from partnering with Daimler Trucks and purchasing quality and green friendly Euro6 trucks.
These new vehicles have an enhanced dashboard with the latest safety technology. With driver safety at the forefront of the ACFS compliance team, the new Euro6 trucks have safety features that include:
- Auto Emergency Braking System.
- Electronic Stability Program.
- Lane Departure Warning System.
- Pedestrian Detection.
By actively working together to drive safety awareness and a culture that prioritises safe, working behaviours, ACFS aims to deliver its goal of all employees returning home safely every day.
The focus for ACFS is on preventing accidents and reducing the number of injuries and fatalities in the industry. As part of safety week initiative, ACFS has developed an Australian / New Zealand safety management system (SMS) that is in line with the following standards, codes of practice and regulatory requirements:
- Australia and New Zealand Work Health and Safety Acts and Regulations
- Chain of Responsibility Legislation
- ISO45001 – Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
- ISO14001 – Environmental Management Systems
- Australia and New Zealand Border Force Requirements
As part of our ongoing commitment to safety, the ACFS system is reviewed continuously. This is managed by an initiative that is driven by the slogan “every walk is an observation opportunity”. This campaign was introduced by the ACFS Work Health Safety department to identify areas for continual improvement. With strong engagement throughout the ACFS business, this campaign has proven to be a successful project.
